Working whilst studying proves invaluable to Teaching Assistant, Jade

Jade has always had a passion for helping others and found her calling in education after finishing university. Seeking more experience with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) in education, Jade found a role as Teaching assistant at Progress Schools. Through this role she was able to gain on the job experience and her Teaching Assistant Level 3 qualification. Jade commented that this role, “challenged me in many ways”, however, she knew she needed the challenge to enhance her skills, allowing her to make a more significant impact.

Reflecting on her own school experience, where she felt disconnected and uncertain about her career path, Jade decided to explore areas that aligned more with her interests. She discussed how she did not enjoy school and did not feel like she fit in. This fuelled Jade to explore entering the education sector as she realised, she could enhance others experience in school. Her commitment to personal and professional growth led her to consider further education to further equipped her whilst supporting students with SEMH.

Choosing to enrol in the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Course, Jade found working full-time and studying to be invaluable. The apprenticeship provided her with a structured learning path that significantly contributed to her knowledge and capabilities in her role. Maintaining a work/life balance proved, at times, to be a challenge, but Jade was keen to highlight that the difficulties were outweighed by the sense of accomplishment and the practical skills gained during the course, stating that “it was all worth it when I finished.”.
