Our latest Civils Groundworker Skills Bootcamp, funded by the East Midlands Combined County Authority, has been a shining example of how targeted, practical training can transform both lives and local labour markets.
Delivered over three weeks, the bootcamp gave learners hands-on experience in excavation, concreting, kerb laying, and site safety, as well as industry-recognised qualifications including New Roads and Street Works Operative (NRSWA), First Aid, Manual Handling, and Asbestos Awareness. In short, it’s everything learners need to be site-ready and confident.
One of our former learners Eric Wood, who is now a Civils Groundworker at Trust Utility Management told us that: “The Skills Bootcamp gave me the confidence and skills to move into the Civils sector. The hands-on training and work experience helped me achieve this.”
The results speak for themselves. The programme achieved a 100% completion rate, with over 200% of learners exceeding employment targets within six months of finishing their training. These aren’t just statistics; they represent real people who have progressed into meaningful work and newfound independence.
Employers have been central to this success. Through partnerships with organisations such as Trust Utility Management, Rollo Civil Engineering, and WP Comms, the bootcamp has been carefully shaped around genuine industry needs.
