Stepping Stones, a supportive programme made up of 6 different pathways, has supported its first learner into employment. Since enrolling onto the programme, Faysal Hassan, who has been out of work for over two years due to frequently being perceived as ‘inexperienced,’ has secured a new role.
Faysal first engaged with Stepping Stones in June after learning of the services offered around readying and supporting individuals to get them back into employment. The free programme, which is powered by Complete Skills Solutions, offers everyday people the chance to boost their health, wellbeing, and personal skills. Through the Stepping Stones pathway, ‘Money Matters’, the Information, Advice and Guidance and Learner Engagement Teams provided Faysal with support across employment and interview skills, and budget management. Following his journey with the team, Faysal was offered job interviews with both Leeds Bradford Airport and Food Warehouse. After successfully completing the interview process, he was offered both jobs, and after some careful consideration,Faysal opted for the role at Leeds Bradford Airport where he has already started work as a Baggage Handler.
When asked about his experience with Stepping Stones, Faysal said:
“The amazing support from the Complete Skills Solutions team at Stepping Stones made me realise something important- I can apply myself to whatever the challenge!”
Managing Director of Complete Skills Solutions, Ian said:
“We are delighted to have aided our first learner into employment through the Stepping Stones programme. The pathways have been designed to give opportunities to people just like Faysal, and help our learners realise and fulfil their potential.
“Our colleagues have been working extremely hard to ensure that we offer the best experience for all our learners, giving them optimal support and help so that they achieve the best possible outcome. It is extremely rewarding to see Faysal has been offered not one but two roles since embarking on his journey with Stepping Stones, and we wish him well in this next chapter.”
Faysal’s achievement not only reflects his hard work and commitment to the programme but also highlights the potential success learners can achieve by signing up to the Stepping Stones programme. With six pathways available covering topics such as mental health support, budgeting, well-being and job support, the programme exists to help change the lives of people living in the West Yorkshire area.
