Complete Skills Solutions Proud to Support Nation with Brand-New HGV Courses
A Liverpool-based adult education specialist has launched a brand-new, free to attend HGV training course in the North-West to help solve the current shortage of lorry drivers in the UK.
Complete Skills Solutions (CSS), part of The Progress Group, specialises in helping the long-term unemployed and low paid workers develop qualifications to help them find employment opportunities.
Complete Skills Solutions has joined forces with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and Job Centre Plus (JCP) to offer the HGV course across the North-West. Over 100 individuals have completed or signed up to the course to date.
The HGV course, which lasts six weeks, offers learners a Driving Goods Vehicle qualification, a Supply Chain Logistics qualification and personal and social skills helping all learners become ‘work ready’.
Learners then go on to gain a Class 1 and Class 2 HGV license before being passed over to training companies that operate a network of qualified, experienced instructors who will deliver the training modules that will help learners find employment.
Ian Green, Managing Director of Complete Skills Solutions said: “CSS specialises in developing adult training courses in sectors which are facing a shortage of workers within their industry.
“The new HGV course has been driven by the demand of HGV companies who are faced with a shortage of drivers. With the support of DWP and JCP, we are offering free training to anyone unemployed or who are earning less than £19,000 a year.
“We have been delighted by the response and would urge anybody to get in touch if they are interested in attending.”
Courses are currently being offered in Blackpool, Skelmersdale, Chorley and Liverpool through Job Centre Plus centres. A bus driving course is also available. Interested candidates are invited to attend an Open Day to ascertain their suitability for the course.
