Last month, The Florrie played host to the inaugural Liverpool City Region Adult Learning Awards, held on Wednesday, May 22nd. These prestigious awards were established to celebrate the remarkable achievements of individuals, within the Liverpool City Region, who have pursued further learning and gives recognition to outstanding self-development.
Complete Skills Solutions emerged as a true standout at the event. Demilea Holmes, a dedicated learner at the organisation, had the honour of receiving the ‘Learning to Gain Work Award’, described by Realise Training as highlighting “a learner who has demonstrated a determination to overcome significant obstacles and barriers to learning.”
Demilea’s success story is particularly inspiring, as she has overcome significant personal challenges to achieve her goals. Just prior to the course beginning, Demilea sadly lost her mum and became the carer for her younger sister, being very young herself. Demilea didn’t let this deter her though, she completed her training, fuelled by a need to gain employment to support her younger sister and herself.
Against all adversity, Demilea has excelled, not only becoming a graduate of Complete Skills Solutions but also a dedicated tutor, teaching Level 2 Nails to future learners.
Managing Director of Complete Skills Solutions, Ian Green, commented on the victory:
“The Liverpool Adult Learning Awards are a powerful reminder that learning has no age limit. These individuals are an inspiration to us all, demonstrating the transformative impact of education throughout life. Demilea’s story perfectly embodies the spirit of the Awards. Her perseverance and dedication are a testament to the power of education to overcome challenges and build a brighter future.”
Demilea’s achievements serve as a testament to the transformative power of adult education and the unwavering support provided by Complete Skills Solutions. The organisation takes immense pride in its learners’ accomplishments and looks forward to celebrating more learner’s successes at the next annual awards ceremony.
