Greater Manchester Combined Authority residents have been given the opportunity to complete fully funded solar training as part of the Green Energy Skills Bootcamp with leading adult training provider, Complete Skills Solutions (CSS).
In April 2022, Complete Skills Solutions, in partnership with Complete Training Solutions and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, delivered a trailblazing Green Energy Skills Bootcamp to residents.
The Green Energy Skills Bootcamp is funded by The Department for Education, as part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life. The programme supports individuals to develop the sector-specific skills required to secure employment in the solar industry.
All participants will gain a practical and theoretical understanding of solar construction. Learners will acquire an IRATA Level 1 Rope Access qualification, Level 1 Solar Construction certification & CSCS Card, Manual Handling certification, and a Working at Height certification.
On top of the impressive learner package, participants will also gain access to sector-specific employability coaching from CSS. The coaching is designed to prepare learners for a guaranteed interview with leading Solar industry employer, Fieldway Group.
The fully funded Skills Bootcamp will take place over 20 days, between Manchester and Liverpool, with transport provided for learners.
Earlier this year, the Green Energy Skills Bootcamp saw huge success in the Liverpool City Region, with a whopping 81% of participants securing employment.

According to the Local Government Association, by 2030 there could be nearly 700,000 direct jobs employed in the UK’s renewable energy economy, rising to over 1.18 million by 2050. There has never been a better time to gain the skills required to embark on a career in the Green Construction and Renewables industries.
