Megan Barton, an ex-teacher, was desperate for a career change following maternity leave. After claiming Universal Credit for three months, Megan came across an opportunity with Complete Skills Solutions.
The opportunity is a two-week training programme designed to support learners to secure employment with Bullen Healthcare Group as a Personal Customer Care Advisor.
In a candid interview, we caught up with Megan to learn more about her experience and if she would recommend the training course to anyone looking for a new career.
Q: How did you find out about the training with Complete Skills Solutions?
A: I discovered the training with Complete Skills Solutions through an online advert. I applied immediately as I thought it would be a great opportunity to not only refresh my knowledge and skills within the customer service industry but also to brush up on my interview skills. I thought it was great that employability training was included as part of the course.
Q: What did you think of the course?
A: After not working for over a year due to maternity, I found the course so valuable not only professionally but personally too. The course enabled me to rebuild my confidence in so many areas.
The course covered several different topics that relate directly to the customer service industry, which has truly been invaluable to my progression in the field.
Ciaron, my tutor, was extremely supportive and informative, and really went above and beyond to ensure that everyone was making progress throughout the course. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people. It was great working together to practice interview skills towards the end of the course after having not been in the workplace for so long.
Q: How long after completing your training was it before you were invited to interview with Bullen Healthcare Group?
A: After successfully completing my training, I was invited to interview around two and a half weeks later. The process was really fast and quite seamless, so kudos to Complete Skills Solutions.
Q: How did you feel about going for the interview? How did you feel when you received your offer?
A: I felt very confident going to the interview due to the training I had received throughout the course.
We actually studied interview skills during the course, and we learnt about the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method when answering interview questions. I found this really useful during the interview phase as I felt it allowed me to communicate well and articulate my answers in a more structured manner.
I was so happy when I received the call to say that I had received an offer and I am so excited to start this new chapter.
Q: Would you recommend Complete Skills Solutions to others looking for a new career?
A: I would one hundred per cent recommend Complete Skills Solutions to other job seekers. Everyone in the team is so helpful and goes above and beyond to ensure that you not only make progress during the course but arrange job interviews on your behalf upon completion. It was a 360-degree service from start to finish, and I can’t thank them enjoy for helping me get back into the workplace.
Q: Are there any other comments you would like to make about your experience?
A: Firstly, I would like to thank the whole team at Complete Skills Solutions for their help and support throughout my time on the course and beyond.
The course was flexible and suited my schedule – I was able to do it online from the comfort of my own home, which is pretty ideal with a new baby.
I would also like to thank Ciaron, he was very approachable and did anything he could to support you back into work. He was so knowledgeable, not only in the customer service industry but his extensive experience in CV writing and interview skills. I found this aspect of the course invaluable, and I really appreciate Ciaron’s efforts – thank you.
